How to change surname in PAN card online
This article will be helpful to all women who are planning to change their surname after marriage. There are many documents other than our mark sheets and certificates which need to be updated. So I will give step by step procedure which will save you from the never-ending queues in the offices. And also the order in which the procedure is given is important as one document will lead to another (Marriage cert. will be helpful in changing aadhar card and aadhar card will be helpful in changing the surname in pan card ).
Steps to change surname in PAN card online
The very first document which we require is MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE and for this, both husband and wife have to visit the nearest ADM office with the documents below:
1. Passport Size photos of Husband & Wife.
2. Aadhar Card or Voter Card of Husband & Wife.
3. Address Proof of Husband & Wife (Voter Card / Driving License / Passport / Bank Passbook with the photograph).
4. Marriage Invitation Card or Marriage Document of Gurudwara /Temple.
5. Age Proof of Husband and Wife (Birth Proof / 10th Pass Document / Driving License / Passport).
6. Witnesses with Pan Card and Address Proof.
7. Marriage photograph of husband and wife.
Please verify the number of documents to take along with you, as this can change depending on your location. You will get your marriage certificate within 24 hrs roughly.
The next important document which you require to update is your Aadhar card. You have to visit the Permanent Enrolment Centre with your marriage certificate and other documents to change your surname. Also, check that your aadhar card is linked to an active mobile number and email id. Below are the important links to check before going to your nearest centers.
Another important document is the PAN card. If the name in your Aadhar card has been updated then you can easily change the surname in PAN card using online portal: https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
Fill your details in the apply online section as shown in image 1. After that, a temporary token number will be generated. Enter that number in the Registered User section, complete the form and press submit button.
After that, a new window will open, which consist of guidelines, personal details, contact details and documents details. There are three options available in the guidelines sections to submit the documents.
TIP: If you already have updated aadhar card with linked phone number then you can choose the first option as shown in image 2 otherwise go for the other options accordingly.
Next, fill your details. They will ask whether a physical copy of pan card is required or not.
Read the instructions given in the blue color (image 4) carefully. Here you have to fill the surname as in Aadhar card and the name which you want to be printed in your pan card.
In image 7 they have asked for proof of pan card, select no document as they already have the pan card number.
Finally, submit the form. They will divert you to the payment gateway if you want your updated PAN card to be delivered to your address otherwise, it’s free of cost. And your work is done !!
